Atamira Dance Company, Auckland Philharmonia and over 150 students take the stage!
The Civic
Saturday March 12, 5pm
This summer over 150 Auckland students aged 5 - 18 explode onto The Civic stage as part of the Festival performing with dancers from Atamira Dance Company and the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in Ruaumoko.
This world premiere follows Hine Ariki, a turehu (fairy) the central character from 2014’s Te Manu Ahi, as she faces the mythical forces and creatures within her sacred mountain. With music composed by Arts Laureate Gareth Farr, dance choreographed by Atamira’s Moss Patterson, and kapa haka this magical collaboration is rehearsed over three months and is an impressive display of the earth-shaking potential of Auckland youth.
